Meet The Team

Jo began her clinical career as a registered nurse working in cardiothoracics. She then went on to practice as an advanced midwife before opening, co-owning and managing a Day Care Centre, from 1992 to 2008, in the UK. Jo emigrated to Australia, with her husband and two children, in Oct 2008. Jo is passionate about training and first aid and hence has been training first aid and associated qualifications since 2013.

Mel started her health industry career as an Enrolled Nurse, with experience in emergency and theatre. Mel joined NSW Ambulance Service in 1992 and worked as a Paramedic in Western Sydney. Mel has extensive experience both trauma and medical emergencies. Mel has a passion for teaching skills to save lives and delivers a range of first aid courses with Paradise First Aid including advanced first aid and advanced resuscitation.

Holding degrees in both biomedical science and paramedical science, Alicia worked as a paramedic within the Western Australian state ambulance service since 2011. In 2017 she made the move over to the Gold Coast where she continues to work clinically in the private sector as a registered paramedic. She has experience in aeromedical rescue & retrieval operations, road crash rescue, heights and confined space rescue as well as across the education sector.

Mick has been a teacher for 35 years in the private sector with a diploma and degree in Education. He has extensive sports first aid experience on the Gold Coast with football and surf lifesaving. Mick has attained a Diploma in Paramedical Science that goes along with various Certificates in First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation. His passions of teaching and first aid naturally combine to become a trainer in first aid. You will most probably find him most weekends at Miami SLSC preparing first aid equipment for patrol.

Travis has a degree in Language and Linguistics and began as a lifeguard at a major water park. Travis began delivering lifeguard qualifications including CPR, Oxygen Resuscitation, Bronze Medallion and the Pool Lifeguard Award. After travelling to the US he oversaw the implementation of an International Lifeguard Training Program where skills such as CPR and First Aid were regularly audited to maintain the highest possible standard. Travis is still actively involved in lifeguarding and enjoys finding new ways to make training interactive and fun.

Sherilyn is our Course Coordinator and newest member of the team. Sherilyn has extensive experience in RTO administration working in two other RTOs before joining the Paradise First Aid team. She is responsible for scheduling our public and onsite courses, as well as handling student enquiries and course bookings. Sherilyn is also responsible for issuing Certificates for our students once they have completed their courses

Andy established Paradise First Aid back in 2008. Andy holds a number of Diploma and Certificate level qualifications in first aid and emergency care and has worked in both the private and public health services before making the switch to first aid education. Andy has a passion for Continued Professional Development and is a member of the First Aid Industry Reference Committee and the Australian Resuscitation Council (QLD Branch).

With an extensive background in customer service, our Business Services Manager Shirley is a friendly point of contact for clients. Shirley manages our sales division which includes products such as first aid kits, consumables, defibrillators and the First Aid Pod! In addition to sales, Shirley assists the admin team with processing course paperwork and participant bookings.

Jo is Paradise First Aid's General Manager responsible for managing all aspects of Paradise First Aid and its third-party providers. Jo has been with Paradise First Aid for over 5 years and has a wealth of knowledge with RTO and business management. She leads a team of dedicated staff to provide all our clients with a high level of service and excellent training experiences.

Kelly is affectionately known as the Queen of Certificates due to the efficient and prompt turnaround time in issuing certificates for our partners. Kelly is also responsible for checking returned assessments to ensure we maintain our reputation of providing high-quality training through our partnering program throughout Australia. Kelly is also available to handle any enquiries from students and partners alike.

Ella works as part of the admin team to provide support to the course co-ordinator and partnering team. She helps co-ordinate the administrative side of the RTO to ensure we are compliant and continue to uphold our high level of standards. To date we have never had any non-compliances at audit! Having completed a Cert IV in Small Business Management and Cert IV in Training and Assessing, Ella’s main interests are looking after the ‘back-end’ aspects of the RTO.
